Malaysian Sustainable Palm Oil (formally known as MPOCC) is a government agency established in December 2014 to develop and operate the Malaysian Sustainable Palm Oil (MSPO) Certification Scheme.

Incorporated as a company under the Companies Act 2016, it is limited by guarantee.

MSPO is governed by a Board of Trustees and started its operation in October 2015.

Mohd Shahari Idris

  • Mohd Shahari Idris has more than 30 years working experience. He has strong international business acumen with a firm governance background. He has worked mainly in the areas of risk management, strategic planning, business continuity management, business planning, internal auditing, compliance, fund management, retailing and marketing.

    He was involved in various industries namely in banking, shipping, finance, Information Technology, Plantation and Investment Holding Company.

    Mohd Shahari Idris is well experienced in setting up departments such as Risk Management Departments, Transformation Management Office and Compliance Department.

    He had also turnaround a compliance function audit into a risk-based audit and also set up the Koperasi Kakitangan Pernec. He was previously a Certified Risk Practitioner from the Institute of Enterprise Risk Practitioner and a Certified Quality Auditor. He passed the Business Continuity Professional from Disaster Recovery Institute (DRI) International which qualified him as a Business Continuity Planner. He had also passed the International Registered Certified Auditor for Quality Auditing. He is currently the member of The Academy of Risk Management Malaysia and MARIM.

Mohd Hasbollah Suparyono

  • Hasbollah brings over 14 years of diverse and extensive experience to his current role, showcasing strong leadership across various capacities with the national council and publicly listed companies in the plantation and financial sectors. His experience encompasses oil palm plantation management, governance through internal audits in both plantation and corporate finance, enterprise risk management (ERM), corporate planning, and international and industry development.

    As one of the pioneers at MPOCC, he has established a strong foundation in the national sustainability certification scheme and ESG, contributing a pivotal role in developing the MSPO ecosystem in Malaysia and advancing the country's sustainable palm oil agenda. He was involved in various areas within MPOCC starting with certification scheme development and standards implementation, and strengthening MPOCC's role in technical outreach for the mandatory certification in Malaysia. As MPOCC expanded, his responsibilities extended to strategic planning, international relations and market development, where he led initiatives in positioning MSPO through government-to-government (G-to-G) and business-to-business (B-to-B) engagements. Prior to his current role at MPOCC, he ventured into the financial sector, serving as an Assistant Vice President of International Development at Bursa Malaysia Berhad, where he was involved in the palm oil market development and sustainability-related topics under the Derivatives Market.

Muhammad Haris Abdullah

  • Muhammad Haris Abdullah is an accomplished professional with over 14 years of experience in the palm oil industry. His expertise lies in sustainable palm oil certification and oil palm plantation management. He is known for his expertise in sustainability and management system certification audits, consulting, and training. Haris's journey in the palm oil industry began with his career in the oil palm plantation and further fascination gained during the 700 audit days that he had conducted. He obtained a master’s degree in business administration to expand his expertise.

    In his current role overseeing the operations of the MSPO Certification Scheme, Haris has played a crucial role in developing and implementing the sustainable certification scheme for the Malaysian palm oil industry. Through meticulous audits and assessments, Haris has helped numerous palm oil producers improve their practices while protecting the environment and safeguarding social responsibility. His experience and knowledge have been expanded and shared through numerous talks, seminars, and community webinars, making him a trusted advocate in communicating the prospects and perspectives of the palm oil industry in Malaysia and fostering a culture of sustainability practices.

Tan Chee Yong

  • Tan Chee Yong joined MPOCC in July 2017 as an officer in the Supply Chain Unit before being promoted to Manager of the Government Liaison Unit. Currently, he is leading the Industry Development unit to provide technical support to the palm oil industry in MSPO certification.

    He holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Biotechnology from the University Science of Malaysia (USM).

    Prior to MPOCC, he was an officer in the Ministry of Plantation and Commodities (KPK) Malaysia, where he was involved in developing Malaysian Biofuel policy and implementation, specifically in palm biodiesel.

    He has vast experience in policy development and implementation, industry and government relations, and training.

Tan Kai Yuuen

  • Tan Kai Yuuen has worked specifically in the environmental field since 2010 with experience across diverse industries, including Construction, Mega Infrastructure, Agriculture, Power Plant & Transmission, Dredging & Reclamation, Oil & Gas, and Heavy Industries. Skilled in Environmental Compliance Auditing, preparation of Environmental Impact Assessment and Wildlife Management Plans, she possesses a strong background in both engineering and environmental expertise besides being competent in Project Management and Coordination. Transitioning to the Malaysian Palm Oil Certification Council (MPOCC), she actively contributes to certification scheme development and accreditation. Currently, she assists the organisation in project collaborations and positioning of MSPO. On a side note, she still freelances in a limited number of projects as Ecology & Water Quality Subject Consultant for EIA consultancy companies to keep her EIA Consultant Registration Scheme with Department of Environment of Malaysia active. She is a Registered Subject Consultant for Ecology & Water Quality with DOE Malaysia (Reg. No.: CEP-SS0267) and a Certified Sustainability (ESG) Practitioner - Advanced Edition (ID: RN2297).

He previously served as the Software Development Manager at CMA Solution Sdn Bhd (2022 - 2023), he leads with expertise honed over the years, showcasing a commitment to innovation and excellence.

    In a career characterized by his seasoned expertise, Mr. Faizal Azlee has held pivotal roles, including Project Manager at AIM Solution Sdn Bhd (2020 - 2021), Application Development Manager at Unitar Capital Sdn Bhd (2013 - 2019), Sr Analyst Programmer at Meridian Diversified Sdn Bhd (2009 – 2012), and Software Developer at New Technology and Innovation Sdn Bhd (2002 – 2009). Recognized for his technical acumen and strategic thinking, his journey reflects an ongoing pursuit of excellence and a dedication to staying at the forefront of technological advancements in the dynamic realm of software development.
