Malaysia secures preferential market access for sustainable palm oil
Malaysia has achieved a major milestone in sustainable palm oil trade by securing preferential market access through the Malaysia-European Free Trade Association (EFTA) Economic Partnership Agreement (Meepa). Signed on June 23, 2025, the agreement grants reduced import tariffs for MSPO-certified palm oil products, reinforcing Malaysia’s commitment to sustainability and enhancing its global competitiveness. The deal also positions the Malaysian Sustainable Palm Oil (MSPO) certification as a central requirement, boosting international recognition and supporting deforestation-free supply chains.
