The Malaysian Sustainable Palm Oil (MSPO) is pleased to announce and congratulate Siqalo Foods Pty. Ltd. (Siqalo) for becoming the first on the African continent and second facility outside Malaysia to be certified under MSPO. This achievement marks another significant milestone in the global adoption of the MSPO certification scheme.

Siqalo is a proprietary limited company based in South Africa that specialises in manufacturing and distribution of food end-products, has been officially certified with MSPO Part 4-2: General Principles for Palm Oil Processing Facilities (including supply chain requirements). The certification was awarded by BSI Services Malaysia Sdn Bhd, an accredited certification body under the MSPO Certification Scheme.

This milestone highlights Siqalo’s strong commitment to responsible sourcing, sustainable processing, and transparent supply chains. With MSPO certification, Siqalo is now well-positioned to supply MSPO-certified sustainable palm oil products with enhanced traceability and credibility to customers in the African region.

Siqalo and its supply chain partners will gain significant value from the e-MSPO platform, a comprehensive digital system that ensures full traceability of certified palm oil, from its point of origin to the end user. We commend Siqalo for demonstrating strong leadership and taking proactive steps in adopting the MSPO standard. Their achievement underscores a collective global commitment to sustainability, ethical sourcing, and cross-border collaboration.

The enhanced MSPO 2.0 standard, developed through multi-stakeholder consultation, reflects the principle of “no one left behind”, ensuring inclusivity and shared responsibility across the entire palm oil value chain. It involves all industry players, from large corporations to smallholders, recognising their vital roles in achieving sustainability. MSPO 2.0 is aligned with evolving global expectations, including the UN Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs) and the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR), and represents a more robust, transparent, and market-relevant approach to sustainable palm oil certification.
