The First Malaysian Sustainable Palm Oil (MSPO) Certified Facility in the People’s Republic of China

The Malaysian Palm Oil Certification Council (MPOCC) would like to congratulate Grand Oils & Fats (Dongguan) Co. Ltd. (GIHDG) as the first facility outside of Malaysia and in the People’s Republic of China to be certified with Malaysian Sustainable Palm Oil Supply Chain Certification Standard (MSPO SCCS) since 21 October 2022.

A special mention to Palm Oil Research & Technical Service of Malaysian Palm Oil Board (PORTSIM) in China for initiating and facilitate the engagement in Dec 2021 that marks the beginning of this historical achievement. GIHDG is an edible oil processing facility company and one of the leaders of plant-based oils and fats industry in the People’s Republic of China.

GIHDG has been verified and awarded the MSPO SCCS certificate by Bureau Veritas Certification (M) Sdn Bhd, an accredited certification body under the MSPO Certification Scheme. Now, GIHDG can supply sustainably produced palm oil product to their customers and end user around the world with confidence and credibility. The value chain will also benefit from the MSPO Trace platform, tracing palm oil products from its source and throughout the supply chain.

MSPO standards are complement to the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDG) 2030 especially on responsible consumption and production, decent work and economic growth, life on land, zero hunger and climate change. MSPO has been recently reviewed and known as MSPO 2022, incorporated with new holistic requirements to ensure the standards are able to address sustainable production including global concern on environment and social issues.

MPOCC attempts to find more facilities outside of Malaysia for the uptake of MSPO certification in order to support the efforts and commitments to produce certified sustainable palm oil to the world by the Malaysian palm oil industry, especially the smallholder.
