MSPO SIA Assessment Procedure

The Malaysian Sustainable Palm Oil (MSPO) scheme is pleased to announce the official publication and enforcement of the MSPO Social Impact Assessment (SIA) Procedure, effective 26 June 2025. This critical milestone reaffirms MSPO’s commitment to enhancing social sustainability and certification integrity across the palm oil value chain.

The SIA Procedure sets a standardised framework for both internal and external assessments, providing clear methodologies, assessor qualifications, and submission protocols. External assessors endorsed by MSPO are now formally bound to these provisions.

Key highlights of the procedure include:

  • Dual assessment pathways: internal and external options available.

  • Clear submission timeline: draft reports from external assessors must be submitted within 90 days of the site visit.

  • Assessor eligibility and training criteria to ensure competence and impartiality.

  • Transition grace period for internal assessors until 31 December 2025.

All stakeholders are strongly encouraged to download and familiarise themselves with the full document available via the button below, and to ensure the procedure is integrated within ongoing certification processes.
